Madeira Sugarpush Swing retreat 2020

Madeira is now on the list of countries stay you don't need to quarantine when returning from!! Hurrah!
As I am sure your all keen to hear we are going ahead with our retreat to Madeira on the 17th - 21st of September with some implements put in place. There will likely be testing either on departure or arrival to Madeira.
Madeira has had one of lowest infection rates in Europe and is aiming to reopen to international tourists from July 1st. Madeira has been able to re-open restaurants, bars, parks and gardens to the public and all road travel restrictions have been lifted, their famous Porto de Santo beach was the first to re-open in Europe after Covid-19. Face masks may be mandatory outside
In order for us to stay safe Holly and Romayne will challenge you with a range of dance classes designed with safety in mind. We may have to adjust the dance schedule slightly to solo dances these could include, solo jazz, Charleston, Black bottom, soft shoe shuffle and jive solo.
We wanted to reassure you all that we will keep a close eye on updates and for any one who would like to book we encourage you to do so. If we go back into to lock down or have other Covid-19 related issues that restrict travel a full refund will be given.
We have noticed that flights are a bit cheaper a few days before and after the weekend for example Tuesday to Tuesday & Wednesday to Thursday, which would be great for anyone wanting an extra holiday.

The Sugarpush team are delighted to announce that our 11th Swing dance retreat will be held on the beautiful island of Madeira in Portugal, from the 17th - 21st of September 2020.
Our home for the retreat is a stunning house situated near Santa Cruz village and boasts amazing views of the Atlantic ocean from the terrace and bedrooms. As always we have lots of space to dance, relax and you can choose to take a dip in the pool or stroll down to the sea which is just 10 metres away. We are only 15km from the capital city Funchal where we will have plenty of time to explore its historical sights such as the beautiful Zona Vela which is the cities old town jam packed with local eateries.
How it works
Sit back, relax and let the good times roll. Your hosts Holly and Romayne have thought of every detail to make this retreat the best one yet!
You will arrive on Thursday, set your bags down and have time to soak up the sun. That evening we plan to relax by the pool with a welcome drink provided by yours truly and enjoy a home cooked dinner at the house.
When we are not dancing we will take a day trip to Funchal where reservations for lunch and dinner have been made. We will also go for dinner in Santa Cruz one night, other than that all meals will be provided at the house.
Anyone who has been away with us before can tell you this is set to be a really enjoyable retreat. This weekend is guaranteed to improve your swing dancing in a fun and relaxed environment and is aimed at improvers/intermediate dancers.

Classes
Holly France and Romayne Etwaroo will be putting you through your paces, the classes will be challenging, fun, and you will be given lots of one to one attention along the way. We require dancer’s to at least be at improver level. Variations will be given depending on ability and personal requirements. A class description will be added before the retreat.
Accommodation

Shared rooms will be will be same sex.
We have a few double rooms for couples, but these are very limited so please book asap to avoid disappointment.
Food
We pride ourselves on our delicious vegetarian home cooked meals, we will take full advantage of the abundance of fresh local ingredients the area has to offer. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
Cost = £470 shared room, £570 single occupancy.

Please note there will be a cost for travel to and from the restaurants, but this will be kept to a minimum
Getting there
You will be flying to Funchal Airport (FNC). There are direct flights from a few low cost airlines. Please note, the flight prices may change due to the month purchased. We encourage everyone to book their flights as soon as possible for the cheapest fare.
Please bare in mind the check in and out times of the house before organising your flights.
A taxi from Funchal airport is between £5-7 and should take less than 10 minutes.
There will also be a Facebook event so people can discuss possible ride shares from the airport if preferred. This has worked well in previous years. Nearer the time there will be a WhatsApp group set up for you all as well.
Check in is after 5.30pm, Check out is 10am.
